Rosh Hashana 2a - Years of Kings

Ba'al Hameor has an interesting approach in the very first gemara. One may of thought that lechatchila the year should end in Nissan, but if you were to write the date in a contract using the starting and ending the year from when the king was appointed that it would be good. The gemara comes to say that if by ending the year in Nissan it should be year 5 and you write year 4 based on the actual year, it is a shtar mukdam and passul even bidieved.
Note: The Ra'avad is not so excited about this peshat. He begins his comment on the Ba'al Hameor by saying "This is what I meant that he (Ba'al Hameor) was never successful in producing chidushim".
