hourly taanis -rashi

some points on rashi:

  1. in the beginning of gemara 11b "halan betaaniso", rashi sounds as if he intends to eat in the morning and only fasting at night (see gvuras ari who also understood this way i think). The rosh clearly says he will fast the whole next day because as the gemara comes out in 12a that "taanis shaus"still means he wont eat the whole day, if so, what is pshat in rashi?
  2. again in 11b rashi is mashma in the maskana that he may not daven tfilas taanis when he is continuing his fast, but it sounds from rashi that he still MUST fulfil his oath to fast (at least till morning), question is that in 12a rashi says that if he wont fast till night time he can eat in the morning also. seems to be a contradiction?
  3. another q (strongest), in the maskana of 11b sounds from rashi that you must accept a taanis before the day in order to say "aneynu" but in 12a rashi holds that if one by chance was fasting till noon and then accepts to fast till night time he may say "aneynu". again a contradiction.

it seems to me the following: there are 2 dinim "kabalas taanis" and being in a state of fast. the gemara is saying in taanis shauos that it is enough to accept upon oneself part of the day inorder to say aneynu, but you still have to be a "faster", fasting between bites is not a fast!
in 11b the whole sugya acc to rashi is that he is planning on eating the next morning he just wants to stretch yesterdays fast till morning. here though, since he fasted yesterday he is called a faster since he is coming into the day in a fasting state. so the gemara debate in 11b as follows: is a partial day taanis nothing or is it good but you cannot say aneynu, and the gemara answers that neither, the accepting a taanis for part of the day is vaild even for aneynu, but in this case he is not considered a faster since a few hours past where he couldve eaten supper. meaning that the only way you can make a fast for a night to be considered a fast is if he is mamash continuing his yesterdays fast with out a hefsek, but since there was a hefsek of time where he couldve eaten then its no longer a continuation and now we are left with a half day fast - invalid.
sorry for being abropt, but its hard to write this out. hopefully this will at leat help to confuse.
